Dyson definitely has a cult-like following, and if you’ve used one of the brand’s vacuums before, it’s easy to see why. They’re powerful, smart, design-forward, surprisingly lightweight and futuristically stylish. Regarding home appliances, Dyson products just feel like they’re the best in the game. According to several diehards, its fans are no exception.
Right now, you can save over $150 on the brand’s Hot+Cool AM09, a small, easy-to-handle tower fan that blows warm or cold air for year-round comfort. That means there’s no need to dig around storage to swap devices seasonally. It’s also got a built-in thermostat to prevent overheating. Reviewers say it’s cool to the touch (making it safe for children and reducing fire risk), it’s extremely quiet and, according to one user, “it won’t run up the electric bill.” Nab this nifty two-in-one fan at 33% off right now on Amazon.
The AM09 is the little sister of HuffPost reader favorite TP10, the only difference being that it lacks an air purification system. Otherwise, it’s got the same smart features: 10 fan speed settings, cooling and hot airflow settings, oscillating and pivoting features for aiming flow, a sleep timer and a magnetic remote control that stores directly atop the fan’s head. The AM09 also has an option for personal or whole-room heating, letting you choose how strong the heated fan operates. Several also say this fan is safe, reliable and its small frame (just under two feet tall) makes it easy to place anywhere in the home.
One reviewer says they bought the fan for their daughter’s bedroom and were blown away by its performance. “It does this job exceptionally well — the room stays perfectly comfortable without fear of overheating the girls due to the built-in thermostat and the ability to adjust the fan power at a comfortably low setting. This is true for the cooling [option] as well. Other fans we’ve used are loud and overpowering and need to be placed in front of a well-ventilated area to push cold air out. […] Not so with this fan — somehow this fan manages to have just the perfect settings so you can adjust it to be cool enough but not overpowering. And we can stick it in front of a wall and it still manages to push cold air out.”
Get that comfortable air going and stay warm (or cool) when you need it. Grab one of these fans while they’re on sale and read on for more promising reviews of this trusted Dyson below.
“This is my first time buying a Dyson. I have to say, I love this product. I wasn’t sure if I should buy this product after reading some of the reviews. I decided to give it a try and see for myself, I’m glad I did. It is worth the price if you want a heater/fan that is aesthetically pleasing as well as quality functionality. I like my electronics to blend in with the atmosphere of my home, rather than being a sore sight to the eyes. I received it very quickly, the design is beautiful without any flaws. It’s easy to set up and use. The dual functionality of the heater and the fan is good quality. I primarily use this for my bedroom and for my plants to keep them warm in the winter. The sound is still audible on higher settings, but it isn’t outrageous. This is a fan not an AC. For me and where I live, this fan does the trick. It projects the cool air that I’m comfortable with. I bought this for my bedroom that faces the south east and gets very cold even in the summer. The heater warms the room right up. I plan to move to a basement soon, so I’ll see how this heater does in that setting, I’m sure it will be fine. The transition from hot to cold runs smoothly. The rotation axis is fairly wide. I’m thoroughly satisfied with the quality of this heater / fan.” — Andrew
“I bought this model in 2017 for our master bedroom. I wanted a quality fan that could heat and not run up the electric bill. After researching, I chose to spend a bit of extra money on the Dyson AM09. Our master bedroom sits right above the garage and during the winter, can be a little bit cooler that the rest of the house. After plugging the AM09 in, I had no problem figuring out how to use the heat. The cool fan button is blue and the heat is red on the remote. There is a temperature display on the front that lights up nicely and is easy to read both in daylight and darkness. We set the temperature at 70° and the fan runs all night. Great thing about this fan is it runs heat for a while and then cuts off the heat, so it’s not continuously on. When the heat cuts off, the fan continues to run at the lowest speed setting barely creating a breeze. Once the heat kicks back on, fan speed increases back up to the level you set it at. There are 10 speed settings. This fan runs very quietly, so if you do not like a noisy fan, you might want to consider this one. This fan is not designed for large master bedrooms. It does take a little while for our room to heat up to 70¯. Our master is 16X18. We’ve run three winters with this model. No problems at report. Also, unlike some cheaper heater/fans, the housing surrounding the heating element has not warped or been damaged. The housing unit when the heat is on is not hot, unlike other companies heater/fans. So we just bought another AM09 a few weeks ago for my daughter. She loves it, we love ours, and I would recommend this model if you have the extra cash to spend.” — W. McCaleb
“I have three of these in my home. It is pretty quiet. It helps keeps my gas/electric bill down. During the summer, I use the cooling fan when I’m working/sitting in an area without turning the AC on. During the winter, I use it in our bedroom with the door slightly opened to keep our room warm when we sleep. The rest of the house can be cold. The machine has an auto temperature, so it automatically shuts off or turn on to the temperature that is set. I prefer this model without the air purifier. I have a separate machine for that.” — S.T.
“I noticed that my current roommate keeps the temperatures a little out of my ideal zone (Sometimes it’s a bit too cold or a bit too hot for me). The Dyson Fan Heater solved that problem easily! When my room gets cold at night, I just turn it on, and within minutes my entire room becomes warm again! Like wise, the fan portion works as expected, which can really help in the 110 degree Las Vegas summers. The different settings for timers, and diffused vs. direct cooling/heating work even better then I thought. Sometimes it feels really good to just sit in the fans way, and other times you just want it to cool/heat your whole room asap, and these functions really help with that. The big question is what makes this product worth paying such a price premium vs. a fan & space heater. First, is the size. This unit is absolutely tiny for what it can output. Also, since it does both heating and cooling you don’t need to have 2 different products. Additionally, the Dyson is safe. Watching all the fires started by space heaters, I feel a lot more comfortable with this unit, esp. since Dyson is such a reliable/trusted brand. If you have small children, the lack of blades can be a big plus too! Last, and maybe the most shallow, this unit is beautiful to keep on your counter/desk/stand. It has almost a futuristic appearance, and I’ve been asked more then a few times what it is. I was really worried that I would be wasting my money, but it was worth every penny! If you can afford it, and you want both a heater and a fan, this is the product for you!” — Ansen Arakaki
